Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love set to Achieve what future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers never did

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has the opportunity to achieve something on Saturday night that his predecessor, the future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, never managed in his 18-year tenure with the team.

In his 21 playoff starts with the Packers, Rodgers recorded an 11-10 record, with a significant portion of his losses coming against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite earning the Super Bowl XLV MVP award in the 2010 season and his first regular-season MVP honor in 2011, Rodgers led the Packers to the No. 3 seed in the 2012 tournament. Following a victory over the rival Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card round, Rodgers and his team suffered a 45-31 defeat at the hands of Colin Kaepernick and the Niners.

Less than a year later, in the wild-card round again, the Packers faced the 49ers but fell short once more with a 23-20 score. Rodgers’ performance included a 17-for-26 completion rate, 177 passing yards, and one touchdown, but the game concluded with San Francisco’s Phil Dawson nailing a game-winning 33-yard field goal as time expired.

In the 2019 playoffs, both the Packers and 49ers finished the regular season 13-3, but the latter secured the No. 1 seed due to a head-to-head victory in Week 12. Meeting in the NFC Championship game, the 49ers built a commanding 27-0 halftime lead and secured a 37-20 victory. Despite Rodgers’ efficient 31-for-39 performance with 326 passing yards and two touchdowns, the Packers couldn’t contain Niners running back Raheem Mostert, who amassed 220 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries.

In the 2021 season, Rodgers clinched his fourth regular-season MVP award and guided his team to the top playoff seed. However, the Packers were stunned at home by the sixth-seeded 49ers, losing 13-10. Rodgers finished the game with no touchdown passes, only the second time in his playoff career, and Niners kicker Robbie Gould sealed the victory with a game-winning 45-yard field goal as time expired.
