Atlanta Braves Addition Jarred Kelenic reveals Alex Anthopoulos as a no-nonsense Person

The Braves, having seen the departure of 2021 NLCS hero Eddie Rosario at the conclusion of the 2023 season, were in search of a power-hitting corner outfielder. Addressing this need on December 3rd, Anthopoulos executed a trade, sending Cole Phillips and Jackson Kowar to the Mariners in return for Marco Gonzalez, Jarred Kelenic, and Evan White.

Kelenic recently offered insights into his initial meeting with Anthopoulos during an appearance on Foul Territory’s YouTube podcast. He characterized the encounter as refreshing, emphasizing a direct and honest approach. Anthopoulos outlined the situation, conveyed the team’s valuation of Kelenic, and expressed the Braves’ excitement about welcoming him to the team. Kelenic appreciated the straightforward communication and sensed that this new opportunity with the Braves would be positive and advantageous.

Despite Kelenic’s impressive season with the Mariners last year, which unfortunately ended prematurely due to a broken foot, he is eagerly anticipating a fresh start with the Braves. Anthopoulos has voiced confidence in Kelenic’s ability to meet the expectations surrounding his career. The clean slate in Atlanta is expected to contribute to Kelenic’s success, and there is anticipation to witness the impressive numbers he can achieve in the upcoming 2024 season.
