50th Super Bowl Ring for Tennessee Vols; will Trey Smith or Jauan Jennings bring the good News?
In Super Bowl 58, Trey Smith and Jauan Jennings, former Tennessee Vols, will collectively bring the university’s Super Bowl ring count to 50. Smith, the starting offensive guard for the Chiefs, and Jennings, a wide receiver for the 49ers, were teammates for the Vols from 2017-19. Hailing from Jackson and Murfreesboro, respectively, they add a Tennessee touch to this milestone. This achievement will make UT’s tally 74 players who have been part of a Super Bowl team, with Smith becoming the 20th former Vol to make multiple appearances. Smith aims for his second consecutive win after a crucial role in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 57 victory.
Meanwhile, Jennings, in his first Super Bowl appearance, had a notable season and contributed to playoff wins. Wanya Morris, Chiefs offensive tackle, also began his college career at UT before being drafted in 2023, although a concussion kept him out of the postseason.
