A.J Brown Dismiss Trade Rumors
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown dismissed rumors of a potential trade during an interview on Up & Adams with Kay Adams. Brown expressed uncertainty about the origin of trade talks, stating, “Maybe they know something I don’t.” The speculation gained traction when Brown cleared his Instagram before the Eagles’ NFC Wild Card Round game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a match he missed due to a knee injury.
When questioned about the Instagram actions reflecting dissatisfaction with his situation in Philly, Brown clarified that it was unrelated to football, emphasizing personal growth and blocking out negativity. Familiar with trade rumors, Brown mentioned, “If something happens, I’ll be waiting by the phone.”
Originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2019, Brown joined the Eagles in 2022 via a trade. Despite the team’s recent struggles, Brown, alongside DeVonta Smith, contributed to reaching the Super Bowl last season. In his two seasons with the Eagles, Brown earned Pro Bowl honors, recording notable stats.
Despite the Eagles’ disappointing finish to the 2023 season, Brown’s substantial contract extension in 2022 makes a trade improbable due to significant dead cap implications. Trading him before June 1 would incur a $41 million dead cap for 2024, while a post-June 1 trade would result in $10.5 million dead cap for 2024 and $30.8 million for 2025, according to Spotrac.
