Ipswich Town midfield lynchpin Massimo Luongo says the Blues will block out all the exterior noise as they bid to get back to winning ways.

Town has suffered consecutive defeats for the first time since October 2022, being eliminated from the FA Cup by non-league side Maidstone United before succumbing to a 3-2 loss at Preston last Saturday. This downturn has caused them to drop to fourth place in the Championship, marking the first time in months they’ve fallen outside the top two positions.

Despite their recent struggles, with just two wins in their last ten matches across all competitions, Luongo insists that the team feels no pressure. “We approach games with a focused game plan rather than feeling the need to win to maintain our position,” he explained. “The manager and coaching staff have done an excellent job in preparing us, alleviating pressure on matchdays. We just need to execute our plan and follow through with what we’ve practiced.”

Looking ahead, Town aims to regain momentum as they face fifth-place West Brom at home this Saturday, followed by a string of nine fixtures against teams currently positioned in the bottom half of the table. Luongo emphasized that with the support of their fans, they remain undeterred by external opinions regarding their promotion prospects. “We’ll continue to push forward,” he stated. “The fans have been fantastic, and despite setbacks like the Preston defeat, we’ll remain focused and determined for the next match.”
