WR Joakim Dodson Commits To Tennessee Vols

Collierville High School wide receiver Joakim Dodson has formally announced his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers after receiving multiple visits from the coaching staff and attending Tennessee’s junior day event. Dodson, standing at 6-1 and weighing 181 pounds, chose the Volunteers over the Missouri Tigers, becoming the second commit from the state of Tennessee thus far. In an interview with Volunteer Country following his commitment, Dodson shared the reasons behind choosing Tennessee as his future school.

Dodson emphasized the strong relationships and trust he developed with the coaching staff, describing it as an easy decision. He highlighted the sense of home he feels every time he visits Tennessee. When asked what set Tennessee apart, Dodson pointed to his excellent relationship with the coaching staff, who believed in his potential since his 9th-grade year. He specifically mentioned Coach Kelsey Pope, with whom he connected well, appreciating not only his coaching abilities but also his personal qualities.

Regarding his contribution to Tennessee, Dodson sees himself as one of the best receivers in the country, emphasizing his dynamic skills, versatility inside and outside the field, ability to win against press/man coverage, and his role as a big-time playmaker. When asked about his excitement to play alongside fellow commits, he expressed enthusiasm for George and the entire committed group, emphasizing the special bond they are building at Rocky Top.

Dodson also expressed his commitment to recruiting in-state talent, stating that he will go for all his in-state peers and inviting them to be part of something special. Despite many uncommitted and talented prospects, Dodson confirmed that while his commitment to Tennessee is not completely shutdown, he is firmly committed to the Volunteers.
