Andy Roddick gives his one cent on the GOAT of Tennis Debate

Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick has entered the tennis GOAT debate, asserting that overlooking Novak Djokovic’s resume in favor of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s is “insane.”

Roddick, the 2003 US Open champion, emphasized that disputing Djokovic’s achievements is “wilfully ignorant” given his unparalleled success in the sport. He described Djokovic as a “surgeon” on the court, contrasting his style with the more overt brilliance of Federer and the physicality of Nadal.

Djokovic boasts a men’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles, along with numerous other records including most weeks at No. 1, ATP year-end No. 1 finishes, and Masters 1000 titles. Additionally, he holds a winning record against both Federer and Nadal in their head-to-head matchups.

Speaking on his Served podcast, Roddick emphasized the objective nature of Djokovic’s accomplishments, stating that any preference for Federer or Nadal over Djokovic is irrational.

While acknowledging Djokovic’s less flashy style compared to Federer and Nadal, Roddick underscored the importance of recognizing Djokovic’s unparalleled achievements and urged against dismissing his numbers in the GOAT conversation.
