The Cincinnati Bengals should stand firm on their asking price for Tee Higgins amid the latest NFL trade rumors, refusing to lower it.

Higgins, who has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the Bengals and was recently franchise-tagged by the team, has reportedly expressed a desire to be traded out of Cincinnati. This request stems from the lack of discussions regarding a potential contract extension between him and the team since March 2023.

While Higgins seeks a trade, it doesn’t guarantee that one will occur, especially since the Bengals are unlikely to part with him for anything less than a second-round draft pick, or possibly a third-rounder, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Therefore, the likelihood of a trade seems slim.

Despite potential discontent in his current situation, Higgins has shown significant promise early in his career, consistently delivering impressive receiving yards and touchdown stats. However, a hamstring injury limited his appearances last season, though he still managed respectable numbers.

Given Higgins’ potential as a top-tier playmaker, particularly alongside quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, the Bengals should maintain their asking price. While negotiations for a long-term deal remain a possibility, the Bengals should explore potential trades but stand firm on their valuation of Higgins, as he holds significant value even as an impending unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season. This stance is particularly prudent considering the possibility of other teams becoming desperate for impact wide receiver acquisitions as the offseason progresses.
